A new contemporary extension and remodelling of a historic listed Thomas Cubitt terraced house. The proposed design involves the complete replacement of the existing internal floor and roof structure as well as the rear wall to enable the addition of a large, modern rear extension.
The existing building has been stripped of visual clutter accumulated over the years and replaced with contemporary interiors that enable views the full length of the building into the gardens and courtyards at either end of the house increasing its sense of grandeur.
The rear extension is constructed of white cast stone and structural glazing composed into a strong interlocking formal geometry, separated from the existing structure by glazed floors and roofs that allow natural daylight into the heart of the building.
